West Iceland Growth Agreement

The Growth Agreement is set up as a contract between the Icelandic government and West Iceland Regional Development Office. The time frame is 4 years and the yearly budget is 170.000 Euro's.

The objectives of West Iceland Growth Agreement are to:

• Support innovation and technological development based on natural resources and knowledge centers in West Iceland.

• Seek new opportunities – especially knowledge based – for the industrial zone of Grundartangi.

• Develop sustainable tourism with emphasis on the cultural heritage of West Iceland and natural protection.

• Support local food initiatives both from agricultural and marine sector.

• Increase export, foreign investment and participation in international projects.

   

The main method of the Growth Agreement is to stimulate the establishment of networks, clusters or triple helix cooperation by giving financial support to such initiatives.
